The BSc Nutrition and Dietetics program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills, mainly in three key areas of nutrition, namely Hospital Nutrition, Community (Public Health) Nutrition and Food Service. Dietetics is the science and art of human nutritional care. The study of dietetics can be related to nutrition care and intervention, focused on the individual or on a group. Dietetics is related to food management where as nutrition is related to the promotion of an individual’s health through promoting healthy food lifestyle. In other words, a dietitian is the link between the patient and a medical team or physician, in assisting difficult decisions making about an individual’s nutrition care. The study program will help students to learn how to educate patients /individuals about healthy eating, making it a primary duty, as well as staying aware of all new developments/practices of medicine and nutrition related to the health care industry.

The students will learn the methods and practices of suggesting corrective food habits considering various aspects of an individual such as age, work routine, sickness etc. and also make efforts to educate clients about food preparation according to the principles of nutrition helping clients to improve their quality of life. The students will also learn about the, food production and processing, psychological factors influencing food choice, digestion and its effects on nutritional aspects.

  • Due to changes in food habits of most of the urban population, role of nutritionists and dietitians is becoming very important, especially in India.
  • Nutritional counseling jobs have increased especially in nursing homes, schools, prisons, community health events, fitness companies other MNC companies and home health care agencies, which promises ample number of job opportunities abroad and in India as a growing and aging population will increase the demand for meals and health aids.
  • Jobs in various specialized areas would be: Clinical Dietitians, Community Dietitians, Management Dietitians, Consultant Dietitians, Corporate Nutritional Consultant, Healthy Eating Instructor, Sports Nutritionist etc.
  • After this study program, students can also get jobs in the Government Sector, Sports and Health Clubs, Teaching, Research and Development, Mass Media, Gyms, Slimming Centers, Private Consultant/ Practitioner etc.


The student must be passed a two year Pre-University examination/ 12th /Plus two, education with English as one of the subjects and also Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects, who has a minimum aggregate marks of 45%.
